SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, as God the Son, is co-equal in might and power with God the Father.

Dear Father, I praise Jesus that another aspect of His being able to carry the government of His people on His shoulders is that He is the Mighty God. I exalt Him that He is fully God, and, thus He is all-mighty to conquer all the forces of darkness, set every captive free from sin, rule and reign over all the universe, bear all of our burdens, answer every question, resolve any conflict, calm every storm, raise the dead to life, transform people and nations, judge the world in righteousness, and countless more expressions of His power and authority. I am greatly encouraged by the many other places in Scripture that also affirm His might, including Psalm 147:4-5, “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” I pray that You will help me and many other believers to regularly meditate on His might, notice displays of His awesome might, worship Him for His might, and pray for His mighty rule over our lives, over His Church and over all people and circumstances, here and now. I give all these things to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
