Jesus is…
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Dear Father, I am infinitely grateful that anywhere and anytime I can lift up my eyes, my voice and my spirit to Jesus, Who is the One and Only Maker of Heaven and Earth. I am in awe of Jesus that He thought about heaven and earth, designed them, spoke every cell and component of them into existence, and keeps them in His perfect order. I marvel that everything is under His dominion, and available for His plans and purposes. I praise Him that He has all the power, mercy, love, wisdom and authority to help me, and all people in the world when we call upon Him. A poem by Frances Ridley Havergal expresses such dependency upon Jesus very well: “Look away to Jesus, Look away from all! Then we need not stumble, then we shall not fall. From each snare that lures, Foe or phantom grim. Safety this ensures, Look away to him!” Please help me not to trust in my own abilities or in other people to guide or help me, but to place every part of my life in the Maker of Heaven and Earth’s fully capable hands. I pray these things in His creative name. Amen.
