SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 31:1-8
In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.
Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.
Into your hands I commit my spirit;
deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.
I hate those who cling to worthless idols;
as for me, I trust in the Lord.
I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.
You have not given me into the hands of the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST reigns over us in a totally faithful and dependable way.
Dear Father, I praise Jesus that He abundantly fulfills the wonderful name, Lord, My Faithful God. I honor Him that He is THE Lord, the divine master, administrator, leader and ruler of all creation, because He was and is and always will be Almighty God! I love to state a bedrock truth of Christianity that, “Jesus Christ is Lord.” And, I rejoice that today’s name of Christ combines His infinite lordship with His infinite faithfulness. I exalt Him that He is all-sufficient and all-dependable in revealing all You are, in paying the price for the sins of mankind (delivering people through His righteousness), and in all the ways described in today’s Scripture passage: turning His ear to His people, coming quickly to our rescue, being our rock of refuge, leading and guiding us, and so much more! I pray that You will reveal the vast riches of the Lord, My Faithful God to me and to the rest of His people, so that we will commit our bodies, minds and spirits completely into His hands. I celebrate Christ’s faithfulness by singing the first verse of “Praise To The Lord,” by Joachim Neander: “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near; Praise Him in glad adoration.” I pray these things in the faithful name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.
