SCRIPTURE READING:
Revelation 21:22-27
I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the source of everlasting light.
Dear Father, How great it is that the New City of Jerusalem does not need the sun or moon to shine on it, because Your glory gives the entire city ALL of its light, and Jesus Christ the Lamb, the Son of God, the Messiah, is its Lamp. I think back to the all-encompassing splendor of this Light that is prophesied in Isaiah 60:19, “The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.” How wonderful that the Lamp directs, displays and radiates the inexhaustible brilliance, rev-elation, luminescence, heat and all-sufficiency of the Light. I rejoice with everything in me that the nations will walk by the Light of the Lamp, and their kings will bring their splendor unto it. Hallelujah! He is the Light of lights, Lamp of lamps, Splendor of splendors, and Glory of glories! I worship You and I worship Jesus that total freedom, security, purity and truth will prevail where there is no night, and the gates of the city never need to be shut. I pray that I and all others whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will right now awaken to all the Lamp is, and never turn away from His brilliance. I pray these things in His glorious name. Amen.
