SCRIPTURE READING:
Matthew 21:6-11
The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is God’s primary spokesman to His people.
Dear Father, I rejoice that when Jesus entered Jerusalem the whole city was stirred, and the people asked Who He was. I am glad that many of the people in the large crowd that traveled with Him to Jerusalem were from Galilee, and that they personally knew Him and could attest that He is Jesus, the Prophet from Nazareth in Galilee. I am in awe that they believed He was the prophet about Whom Moses stated in Deuteronomy 18:18, “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him.” But, I am sorry they did not understand that You had sent Jesus as the Prophet Messiah to them to reveal Your majesty and love, give His life as a ransom for mankind, and rule His kingdom forever. I honor the great Prophet from Nazareth in Galilee, Who has all Your wisdom and knowledge. I pray that You will help me and the whole Church today to seek Him, know Him, listen to Him, obey Him and constantly speak of His greatness to one another, so that we will all be freshly awakened to all that He is. I pray that large crowds of unsaved people in our cities will be intensely “stirred” to know Him too. I pray these things in His prophetic name. Amen.
