Immanuel, God With Us

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
Dear Father, I am excited that today’s Scripture passage states that all of the aspects of the birth of Jesus fulfill Isaiah’s prophecy 700 years earlier, that one day a virgin would give birth to a son Who would be called “Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). I am in awe that even in the midst of King Ahaz’s wicked rule of the kingdom of Judah, You were giving him assurance (a sign) that You would ultimately preserve the line of David through sending Immanuel, Who is God manifested in the flesh. I say “Hallelujah,” that You sent Jesus, Your Son, Who eternally was and is fully God, to reside on earth with us as fully man. Thank You that I and all His people can know all Your thoughts, Your heart, Your desires, Your plans, Your mercy, Your love, Your compassion, Your power, Your righteousness, and the whole of Your nature through watching, hearing, touching, reading about and living in Immanuel. I bless Him that all of our sins are forgiven through His sacrificial life, death and resurrection as a man, so there is nothing in the way of us having an intimate, love relationship with You. I am filled with joy as I read and receive Jesus’ words to You in John 17:26, “I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” I pray these things for myself and for all of Your people, in Immanuel’s glorious name. Amen.
