“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
Dear Father, I bow in awe of the only One Who has ever been, or will ever be, absolutely Holy and True—the Lord Jesus Christ. I love the discussion that includes Jesus’ holiness between the virgin Mary and the angel in Luke 1:34-35, “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.” I also remember Peter’s statement in Acts 3:13-14, “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.” I exalt the most holy Jesus! I honor Him also for the many declarations throughout the Bible that He is the True God, in the midst of many other gods and idols which relentlessly vie for man’s devotion. Hallelujah, that in the book of John alone it is said of Jesus, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (1:17); “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life’” (14:6); “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me” (18:37). All glory to Jesus, the Holy and True, Who, as the heir of the throne of David, has sole authority to decide who enters His kingdom. I pray these things in His mighty name. Amen.
