Psalm 111:1-10
Praise the Lord.[b]
I will extol the Lord with all my heart
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established for ever and ever,
enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for his people;
he ordained his covenant forever—
holy and awesome is his name.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST provides the full and final display of God’s awesome righteousness.
Dear Father, I rejoice in this marvelous testimony of Your all-encompassing greatness, that is ultimately fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ. I join the Psalmist in extolling Christ for His innumerable great works, His glorious and majestic deeds, and His righteousness that endures forever! Please help me and all His people to continually remember His wonders, and to praise Him with all our hearts that He is the gracious, compassionate, powerful, faithful, just, trustworthy and steadfast Lord of the universe. I am filled with gratitude that He has provided redemption for all people to fulfill Your covenant forever. I bow before Him as I exclaim, “Holy and Awesome is his name!” I pray that a widespread, holy fear and awe of Christ will rise within the Church and that we will speak without restraint of His authority and righteousness. I pray these things in His most holy name. Amen.
