SCRIPTURE READING:
1 Thessalonians 1:7-10

And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is God’s beloved Son Who will return to take His people to His Father.

Dear Father, As I think about Christ, the Son From Heaven, my hope in Him is strengthened. I rejoice that You raised Your beloved Son from the dead to sit at Your right hand in heaven, and that one day soon He will return from heaven to earth in all His power and glory! Thank You that with all certainty He will rescue those who receive Him as their Savior from the wrath that will come upon all sinners. What a precious, undeserved privilege we believers have of waiting for the Son From Heaven to return. May we hold on to Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” In Christ’s name I pray. Amen.
