SCRIPTURE READING:
2 Peter 1:16-18

For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. We received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST displays the royalty of the Godhead.

Dear Father, I rejoice that the Apostle Peter had the immense privilege of being an eye-witness (with James and John) of His Majesty, the Lord Jesus Christ, receiving honor and glory from You on the Mount of Transfiguration. What an incredible display of Your fullness dwelling in Jesus, the great Messiah and Majesty! I strongly believe that what You said about Him at that time: “This is my son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased,” were the words Your beloved Son most wanted to hear, and were the strongest possible confirmation that He was fulfilling the purposes for which You sent Him to earth. I believe that His transfiguration was irrefutable proof of His exceeding greatness now, and that one day He will return with power and glory to consummate His eternal kingdom as He has promised. I pray that You will reveal His Majesty so profoundly to me, my family and multitudes of other believers around the world that we will be gripped with the same awe of Him and trust in Him that Peter had. I join Charles Wesley in praising the majestic Jesus through some additional verses of “Rejoice, the Lord is King”: (verse 3) “His kingdom cannot fail, He rules o’er earth and Heav’n, The keys of death and hell are to our Jesus giv’n; Lift up your heart, lift up your voice; Rejoice, again I say, rejoice! (verse 4) He sits at God’s right hand, Till all His foes submit, And bow to His command, and fall beneath His feet: Lift up your heart, lift up your voice; Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!” In His exalted name I pray these things. Amen.
