His (God’s) One and Only Son

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Dear Father, When I imagine the depth of love You lavished on me and all mankind by completely giving Your precious, only-begotten, One and Only Son, no words can adequately express the wonder and gratitude that fills my heart. This sacrifice of Your Son reminds me of Genesis 22:1-2, 9b-12, where You directed Abraham to offer his beloved son as a sacrifice too: “Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, ‘Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ he replied. Then God said, ‘Take your son, your only son, whom you love— Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.’ . . . He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, ‘Abraham! Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ he replied. ‘Do not lay a hand on the boy,’ he said. ‘Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.’” Thank You, Almighty God, for providing (not withholding) Your One and Only Son, as the only sacrifice/way through which we might have eternal life. I BELIEVE IN HIM! I pray that all other Christians will awaken now to unreserved belief in Christ for all He is! In the name of the One and Only Son. Amen.
