SCRIPTURE READING:
Hebrews 1:8-12

But about the Son he says,

“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
He also says,

“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the one true God in every respect.

Dear Father, I rejoice that the writer of Hebrews quoted this passage from Psalm 45, which clearly foretells that Your Son, the magnificent Messiah and King, is fully God. I love how Paul’s glorious statement in Philippians 2:5b-6 confirms Christ’s complete divinity: “Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage.” I honor Your Son, that He was with You in the beginning, and that He laid the foundation of the heavens and the earth with His hands. I praise Your Son, the divine God, Who rules from His righteous throne for ever and ever. Glory to Him that He will remain the same, and His years will never end. I bow my heart and mind in utmost reverence of Your Son, and say to Him, “O God, O God, O God.” I pray that You will cause great numbers of believers everywhere to become as convinced as Paul was that Jesus is totally God. May an awe of Him and an adoration of Him fill His Church as never before. May we all live under His scepter. May ungodly leaders around the world fear Him. In His excellent name I pray these things. Amen.
