SCRIPTURE READING:
Daniel 2:19-23

During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, as the second Person of the eternal Godhead, was involved in God’s people’s lives from the beginning.

Dear Father, I am excited to think about how Your Son, Jesus, ultimately fulfills all that Daniel is giving You praise and gratitude for in today’s Scripture passage. I praise Jesus that all wisdom and power are in Him. I am grateful that He gives all wisdom, knowledge and revelation to those whom He chooses, and He causes the rise and fall of all rulers according to His perfect will. I worship Him that all light dwells in Him, and I honor Him that all of creation depends upon His authority, mercy, love, justice, understanding, goodness and holiness. I exalt Him that He has always been the faithful God of My Ancestors, and that I can completely trust His unchanging character and abilities. I am reminded of verses 54-55 of the praise that Jesus’ mother, Mary, sang in Luke 1: “He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.” I join the millions of our Christian forefathers and mothers in thanking and praising the God of My Ancestors for all He is and all He does! I pray that I and a growing number of believers today will abandon ourselves to Him as Daniel did, and that He will reveal deep and hidden things to us, and draw us into His marvelous light. Please irresistibly draw many unsaved and hopeless people to the God of My Ancestors too. I pray these things in His excellent name. Amen.
