SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 34:17-18
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, by His Spirit, dwells with His children, especially those who are brokenhearted.
Dear Father, I am deeply grateful that the Spirit of Christ dwells in me and in each of Your children. What precious closeness we have with Him. I am comforted and strengthened that He never leaves us; He always has complete love and compassion for us; He knows all our needs and fears; and He is absolutely able to handle whatever is breaking us. I am also very grateful that Christ is always interceding to You for us. I rejoice in the certainty we have that He is Close to the Brokenhearted through His continual presence with us and His tender heart toward us when we are broken and humble. I love King David’s testimony in Psalm 51:17 which strongly portrays the closeness and compassion that Christ has for His followers today: “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” I pray You will immerse us in all Jesus is, so we will depend upon more and more of His all-embracing closeness. May we be filled with hope as we worship Him, abide in Him, love Him, trust Him, and have broken and contrite spirits toward Him. Please draw many unsaved people around us close to the One Who is Close to the Broken-hearted. I pray all these things in Christ’s blessed, saving name. Amen.
