Jesus is…
An Example

For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
“He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
Dear Father, I am in awe that Jesus, the Son of God, is the only Person Who is the perfect Example, Whose steps I and all people should follow. I honor Him that His unjust suffering and death for us is His highest demonstration as the Example for us. I rejoice that He is our complete Example in all other aspects of His life. All glory to Him that I and all His followers can know and live in all His character, teachings, deeds, promises, prayers and passions. I think of what Paul instructs us in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” I pray You will compel me to follow Paul in his wholehearted commitment to this in Philippians 3:7-11, “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” I pray these things in the name of the blessed Example. Amen.
