A Witness to the Peoples

SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 55:3-5
Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a ruler and commander of the peoples.
Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST reveals the entire nature of God and the whole purpose of God to all who have eyes to see.
Dear Father, I want to come to You and hear You completely, so that my “soul may live” in all of what another translation calls Your certain and “sure mercies.” I am exceedingly grateful that You made an everlasting covenant with me and all believers that is marvelously fulfilled through King David’s descendent, Your beloved Son. I rejoice that You sent Jesus as Your perfect Witness to the Peoples. I praise Him that He has been with You for all eternity and knows You fully, so He is the only One Who can be an absolutely truthful eyewitness about all You are through His words and actions. I love how Hebrews 1:1-2 confirms that You speak (witness) through Jesus: “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.” I honor Jesus that He was willing to lay down His life for witnessing the whole truth about You and about Himself as Messiah and King. I pray that I and all of Jesus’ other followers will receive all He has witnessed, and will devote ourselves to knowing Him, worshiping Him, loving Him, submitting to Him, and joyfully witnessing about Him to one another and everyone else You bring into our lives. May the Holy Spirit open the hearts and minds of countless people to His truths now. I pray these things in the faithful name of the Witness to the Peoples. Amen.
