SCRIPTURE READING:
Romans 9:30-33

What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. As it is written:

“See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is an obstacle to unbelievers.

Dear Father, I worship Jesus as the Stone That Causes People to Stumble and the Rock That Makes Them Fall. At the same time, I’m saddened that Who Jesus is and the lifestyle He calls His followers to live has caused so many people to stumble and fall from having faith in Him. My heart breaks that people are so ignorant about His greatness and love that they choose not to receive Him as Savior and Lord. I pray that You will compel me and the whole Church to seek to know the depths and riches of Jesus, so that we will worship Him continually, love Him with all our hearts, speak regularly of His greatness to one another and to the unsaved people we know, surrender every part of our lives to Him, and pray for His Lordship over us and all people and circumstances. May we be so awakened to all Christ is that those who have been stumbling and falling because of Him will convincingly “know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). And, I pray that Your promise in Isaiah 43:18-19 will come to pass in them: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” In Christ’s name I pray these things. Amen.
