Jesus is…
A Sign

Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, “Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.”
But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.”
Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Dear Father, I am in awe of Your wonderful revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ through the prophet Isaiah in today’s Scripture passage. I am exceedingly grateful that You gave King Ahaz, and thereby all people for all time, an understanding of Your sovereign intervention in the affairs of man, through Jesus, the Sign. I rejoice that Isaiah clearly knew You were foretelling that one day You would send the Messiah, Immanuel, to earth through a virgin. I exalt the Sign, that He came among us exactly as was foretold, and that He was and is the total manifestation of Your greatness, majesty, love, holiness, mercy and life! All glory and honor to Jesus, the eternal King from the lineage of David. I pray that the whole Church of today will: “Hear now, you house of David,” by knowing all we possibly can about Jesus, believing in Him completely, living in all of Him, loving Him unabashedly, and surrendering our all to Him. I pray that You will draw countless numbers of broken, unsaved people to the Sign whose hearts Your Spirit is preparing to receive as their Savior and Lord. All these things I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
