SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 25:1-5

Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago.
You have made the city a heap of rubble,
the fortified town a ruin,
the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
Therefore strong peoples will honor you;
cities of ruthless nations will revere you.
You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall
and like the heat of the desert.
You silence the uproar of foreigners;
as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless is stilled.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST provides us with God’s maximum refuge in the midst of all life throws at us.

Dear Father, I thank You that You always provide Your people with a Shelter From the Storm. When I think of all the spiritual, physical, financial, mental and emotional storms of life, I am so grateful that You sent Your Son, Jesus, to be the complete Shelter From the Storm that I and every one of His followers desperately need. I praise Him that He possesses all Your wisdom, power, love and mercy to know about all the storms that come into our lives, and to provide us with the perfect shelter from them. I rejoice that Jesus also knows the good purposes that You want to accomplish through the storms, and He is constantly working in and through us to give us victory, freedom, peace, faith, strength, and all His other “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11b). I honor Jesus that He is the Master of the storms, and all parts of our lives. I pray that You will help us to submit to His will for every part of our lives, (including in our storms), and that we will grow stronger and stronger in Him, and more like Him. May the many lost people around us see the Shelter from the Storm working in us, and quickly flee to Him as their Shelter too. All these things I pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
