SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 55:3-5
Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a ruler and commander of the peoples.
Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the Commander-in-Chief Who triumphantly leads His redeemed ones from every people group of the earth.
Dear Father, I eagerly come to You and listen, so that my soul may live according to Your highest and best for me. I exalt Jesus, Whom You sent to earth as the divine Ruler and Commander of the Peoples. I praise Him that He has all the eternal power, wisdom, courage, truth, authority, knowledge and righteousness of the Godhead to be the supreme Ruler and Commander of the Peoples! I continue to hold onto the magnificent proclamation Jesus made about Himself in Matthew 28:18-20a, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” I rejoice that Jesus perfectly rules and leads His followers in knowing You intimately, being totally dependent upon You, being holy, giving His life for others, serving out of compassion, speaking and living the truth, having sacrificial love and unquenchable hope, victoriously rising from death to life, and possessing wisdom and courage. I also rejoice that His commands are sure and will result in overwhelming victory for those who obey Him. I pray that ALL His people will unconditionally follow and obey the supreme Ruler and Commander of the Peoples. I pray that You will convincingly summon the hopeless, rulerless unsaved people all around us to Him. In the splendid name of Jesus I ask these things. Amen.
