SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 25:1-5

Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago.
You have made the city a heap of rubble,
the fortified town a ruin,
the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
Therefore strong peoples will honor you;
cities of ruthless nations will revere you.
You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall
and like the heat of the desert.
You silence the uproar of foreigners;
as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless is stilled.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, offered to us by God as a permanent place of safety, is especially available for the overwhelmed.

Dear Father, Just as Isaiah expresses praise for the deliverance of the Jews out of captivity, I want to exalt, praise and honor the Lord Jesus for His glorious victories over the enemies of His people today. I thank Him that in perfect faithfulness, He does marvelous things. I thank Him that He humbles the strong and proud, and gives strength to the needy and humble. I am deeply grateful that You sent Him to earth as the Refuge For the Needy in Their Distress. When I think of the dire needs of so many in our region and around the world, I tend to be overwhelmed. But, I know that all things are possible through Jesus, and that He is never overwhelmed! All glory to Jesus that He alone is willing and able to be the Refuge of ALL the needy in whatever their distress. Please draw them to Him, open their hearts to Him, and help them to put all their distress in His hands. May they find complete refuge in Him! I pray especially that You will reveal the great-ness of the Refuge For the Needy in Their Distress to me and to all the Church today, so that we will abide in Him as a testimony of hope to the world. In the overcoming name of Jesus I pray these things. Amen.
