A Peg Into a Firm Place

SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 22:20-24
“In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the people of Judah. I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will become a seat of honor for the house of his father. All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots—all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST fulfills the vision of an unfailing handle to which God’s people can cling with confidence that He will not fail.
Dear Father, I honor Jesus, Who so powerfully fulfills this prophecy about Eliakim as the Peg into a Firm Place (or what some translations call a “nail in a sure place.”) I exalt Jesus that He is the ultimate King Who is clothed in the royal robe and has all the authority of the house (kingdom) of His father David, now and forever. I praise Him that the key to the house of David is placed on His shoulder. Truly, the government is solely upon His shoulders! I rejoice with all my heart that His power is unlimited and His authority is supreme; what He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. Hallelujah, that You have driven Him as the Peg Into a Firm Place upon Whom I and all of His people can securely hang our faith in our salvation and every part of our lives. I am in awe of Jesus, the seat of honor for You, and the One upon Whom all the glory of the Church hangs. I submit my life wholly to Him. I am His subject and live to do His will. Oh, may millions of other believers, and those who have not yet received Him as their Savior, very soon completely hang on the Peg into a Firm Place. I pray these things in His firm, trustworthy and unmovable name. Amen.
