SCRIPTURE READING:
Hebrews 2:14-18
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST perfectly presents man’s need for God to the Father.
Dear Father, I worship Jesus that He came to earth and was like people in every way, in order that He might become our Merciful and Faithful High Priest. I am deeply grateful that He knows how we think and feel, and what our trials, temptations, fears, sufferings and needs are, so He has immense mercy and compassion for us. Thank You also that He was completely faithful to Your mission for Him by saying all You told Him to say, and doing all You told Him to do. And, that He faithfully prayed to You, revered You, served You and revealed You to the world. I praise Him with all my heart that as our High Priest He faithfully offers the sacrifice and intercession that makes atonement for our sins. Please urge me, my family members and many other believers to give ourselves to knowing, adoring and living in our Merciful and Faithful High Priest. Finally, I pray Your Spirit will open the hearts and minds of multitudes of unsaved people all around us to the Merciful and Faithful High Priest’s transforming mercy and faithfulness too. I ask all these things in His name. Amen.
