A Light for the Gentiles

SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 49:5-7
And now the Lord says—
he who formed me in the womb to be his servant
to bring Jacob back to him
and gather Israel to himself,
for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord
and my God has been my strength—
he says:
“It is too small a thing for you to be my servant
to restore the tribes of Jacob
and bring back those of Israel I have kept.
I will also make you a light for the Gentiles,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”
This is what the Lord says—
the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel—
to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation,
to the servant of rulers:
“Kings will see you and stand up,
princes will see and bow down,
because of the Lord, who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST was sent by the Father to be the light of salvation to all earth’s peoples.
Dear Father, I am very grateful that the One You chose to restore the tribes of Jacob and Israel to Yourself, You also chose to be the glorious Light for the Gentiles. I praise Jesus that He is the light in the midst of darkness and despair Who brings Your “salvation to the ends of the earth.” It is amazing beyond all imagination that “to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation [of Israel] . . . Kings will see you [him] and rise up, and princes will see and bow down.” I am thrilled with what the prophet further says about the Light in Isaiah 60:2-3, “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” I am so glad that Jesus’ salvation, hope, mercy, love and peace are available for me and anyone else who receives Him as their Savior. Please help me and multitudes of other believers to be faithful conduits of the Light to our family members, neighbors, friends, work associates and all others He gives us relationships with. May the people of Israel today receive the Light as never before in history. I ask these things in His all-illuminating name. Amen.
