SCRIPTURE READING:
John 7:6-13

Therefore Jesus told them, “My time is not yet here; for you any time will do. The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil. You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.” After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee.

However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret. Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus and asking, “Where is he?”

Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said, “He is a good man.”

Others replied, “No, he deceives the people.” But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST demonstrated a life of perfect goodness and righteousness.

Dear Father, I am sorry that some of the people who were talking about Jesus at the festival had such a limited understanding of Jesus that they considered Him to be just a good “human being.” I repent that that is the mindset which many people have of Him today. I love what Jesus said in Matthew 19:17a that only You are completely good: “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good.” Then, I praise Jesus that as the Son of Man He possesses the fullness of Your boundless goodness, which is combined with all Your love, righteousness, mercy, kindness, compassion, justice, and infinitely more in Him! Truly, is the perfect Good Man. I want to taste and see all the goodness of Jesus, as 1 Peter 2:2-3 instructs us: “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” I pray that my family members and all other believers will also crave to know and live in all of Jesus, the Good Man. I pray also that the Holy Spirit will convince masses of local unbelievers of their desperate need to give their lives to the Good Man. Oh, may there soon be a widespread awakening of all people to the wonders of the Good Man. In His name I pray these things. Amen.
